One of America's most-loved daily crosswords.

The LA Times Crossword has been a daily fixture in American newspapers since 1996. Published seven days a week by the Los Angeles Times and syndicated to dozens of newspapers and websites nationwide, it sits comfortably in the upper tier of mainstream daily crosswords — friendly enough on Monday for a casual solver, devious enough on Saturday to test seasoned veterans. The puzzle is currently edited by Patti Varol, who took over the editorial chair in 2022 from longtime editor Rich Norris.

If you're solving today's puzzle and got stuck on a clue, you're in the right place. Our team — led by daily puzzle curator Sofia Marquez — updates this page every morning before 6 AM Eastern with the complete solution.

How the puzzle is structured

Monday through Saturday the LA Times Crossword is a 15×15 grid, the standard American daily size. The Sunday puzzle expands to a 21×21 grid and almost always carries an overarching theme. Difficulty rises through the week, peaking on Saturday.

Six rules our team lives by.

1

Start with fill-in-the-blanks

Clues with a blank are the lowest-effort high-yield entries. Knock them out first.

2

Trust short crossings

Three- and four-letter answers anchor everything. Get them right and the long entries fall into place.

3

Watch for the theme

Mon–Wed and Sunday have themes. Identify the trick early.

4

Mind clue tense and number

If the clue is plural, the answer is plural. Small tells matter.

5

Use Pattern Search

Have a few letters but no clue? Drop the pattern into our search.

6

Don't fight a wrong letter

If two answers won't cross, one is wrong. Erase the older guess.
